Coral Reef Depletion
Our display was designed to raise awarness of depletion of the coral reefs. Being from Ohio, we do not know that we affect the coral reefs, however we do. Our CO2 emission and water runoffs (carrying our waist) can destroy the reefs. Coral reefs provide a natural buffer zone against storms, and destroying them can be dangerous for surounding areas. Sixty percent of the world's coral reefs will be gone in the next 30 years! Things causing this are pollution, overfishing, and tourism.
Our project was completely made out of recycled items, card board, shells, plants, clay, etc. These items were painted, and glued to our gray spray painted structure. The gray is there to show the depleted coral reef. We added a shark to give the display more to look at, and to add dramatic lean. Other elements we used were complementary colors, odd numbers, asymmetrical balance, and variety. Our cup cakes were decorated blue to show water, and 19 of them had fish made from completely edible items.
